<p><span>Harry Laing </span><span>and </span><span>Nicola Bowery </span><span>are poets, performers, writers and teachers. </span></p>
<p><span>Harry came from the UK to live in Australia in 1991. He has published two collections &ndash; &lsquo;Thirst&rsquo; and &lsquo;Backbone&rsquo;. </span></p>
<p><span>Nicola is from New South Wales and has published &lsquo;Goatfish&rsquo; a powerful collection &ndash; available on the night. </span></p>
<p><span>Nicola and Harry own the property of &lsquo;Geebung&rsquo; 100 acres of the Southern Tablelands, New South Wales. They&#8217;re close to wilderness and half their land is native forest. </span></p>
<p><span>Kristian Evans, </span><span>is an artist and poet from Bridgend. He&#8217;s working on his first book, </span><span>&#8216;The Nomad&#8217;s Garden&#8217;. </span><span>He lives in Kenfig.&nbsp;</span></p>

<p><strong>1. Porthcawl. Monday&nbsp; Feb 27th</strong>&nbsp; from 11.30am (outside Sustainable Wales Office, 41, John St)</p>
<p>Intent on fun, donned in debonair dress and with some classic toe-tapping tunes from the 50&rsquo;s on the record player, the unemployed graduates hope to seduce shoppers with offers of free mocktails, coffee, chocolate and campaign messages. Their plan also is to highlight their forthcoming charity fundraiser a 1950&rsquo;s themed <strong>FT Cocktail Party, upstairs at The WaterFront, Seafront Porthcawl, March 9th, 7.30pm.</strong></p>

<p>Aberystwth graduate Luke Evans said. <em>&ldquo;The fundraiser will be fun, feature tasters of classic cocktails containing Fairtrade ingredients, smooth music, raffles and plenty of chat whilst celebrating ethical purchasing&rdquo;.</em>&nbsp; Fellow Swansea graduate Michael Gore commented. <em>&ldquo; We are asking people to draw on the golden age of Hollywood (optional) and dress with glitz and glamour with prizes for the best dressed 50&rsquo;s man and woman. If you can think of a more enjoyable way to support Fairtrade, I&rsquo;d like to hear it!</em>&rdquo;</p>

<p>Tickets are &pound;5.95 and available from SUSSED or at the door on the night.</p>
<p><strong>2. Porthcawl Bandstand Saturday March 3<sup>rd&nbsp; </sup></strong>&nbsp;10am - 12.30pm</p>
<p>Porthcawl Fairtrade Group&rsquo;s event offers plenty of FT freebies, a chance to chat with a FT chocolate bar, a walking wine bottle and a banana whilst browsing the stall. Helping the event to go with a zing will be school children from Nottage school.</p>
<p><strong>Others include&hellip;..</strong></p>
<p><strong>Bridgend County Borough Council&nbsp;</strong>Education For Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship department will be hosting a Fairtrade Cotton Producer. He will be talking to Councillors about the benefits of Fairtrade to his community, March 7<sup>th am</sup>. Nottage Primary will present their involvement. An aim is to commit the Council to procure some fairtrade cotton.</p>
<p><strong>HM Parc Prison:</strong></p>
<p>An awareness raising poster campaign telling the Fair Trade story will run whilst staff will be offered new products to taste/ and try.&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>Churches and Faith groups:</strong></p>
<p>Many socials and tea-parties, FT stalls and coffee mornings are planned across the borough.</p>
<p><strong>School events include:</strong></p>
<p>Many special Assemblies, fairtrade parties and fairtrade goodies stalls.</p>
<p><strong>Nottage Primary</strong> are organising bananas at breakfast, coffee afternoons, a Fairtrade bike race. They already run a chocoholics stall on Friday lunchtimes and a fruit tuck shop. The school are also taking part in BCBC&rsquo;s meeting the producer event.</p>
<p><strong>Cefn Glas Infants</strong> are doing a neighbourhood walk as part of their &lsquo;Footprint Challenge&rsquo; and a St David&rsquo;s day footprint walk. They will be lobbying the Catering Service to use more fairtrade ingredients. Parents will be asked to complete the &lsquo;take a step&rsquo; postcard packs.</p>
<p><strong>Oldcastle </strong>children will be performing, displaying their work and selling some goods.</p>

In addition, prizes will be offer for the &#8216;Best Dressed Guy&#8217; and &#8216;Best Dressed Chick&#8217;, as well as to the winner of our rock &#8216;n&#8217; roll raffle.</span></span></p>
