gorwelion: shared horizons

The planet is warming and we are responsible.

For writers from India, Wales and Scotland

Climate change is the most serious global issue.

In this anthology compiled by charity Sustainable Wales Cymru Gynaliadwy they describe its effects on their home areas.

With the help of the past, they look forward. For some the future might be marvellous, for others terrifying.

But sombre or surreal

For all of them

That future is here.

overview

Sustainable Wales produced this anthology of new writings with Parthian Books. Published to coincide with the COP26 climate conference in Glasgow, November 2021, retailing at £9.00.

Gorwelion is Welsh for ‘horizons’. It consists of five original contributions from Indian authors, two from Scotland, and nine from Wales.

This was achieved by a momentous effort during the worst of the Covid19 pandemic.

It is produced because of the generosity of our supporters, Merryn Hutchings and Christine Eynon. There is an excellent chance of a second volume of original writings being produced if this publication works well.

the authors

Abeer Ameer, Aditi Angiras, Priya Sarukkai Chabria, Sampurna Chatterji, Phil Cope, Tishani Doshi, Peter Finch, Mandy Haggith, Suzanne Iuppa, Mike Jenkins, Nabanita Kanungo, Christopher Meredith, Robert Minhinnick, Samantha Wynne-Rhydderch, Stewart Sanderson,  Laura Wainwright.

Review at Nation.cymru “If, like me, you find the enormity of the climate crisis hard to get your head around, this anthology will make sense of it, beautiful writing from beautiful places worth fighting to save.” Caroline Bracken.
