Power to the People!

Test Sustainable Wales is launching an exciting new project that supports the introduction of free solar panels to households across the whole of the Bridgend and Vale of Glamorgan area.

We want you to be involved! Register your interest today!

This project is about much more than installing free solar panels on your roof and providing a free source of electricity to your home. It will also create an on-going funding stream to support local communities.

How exactly will this project benefit you and your community?

  1. Free solar photo-voltaic (PV) panels will be installed by a government-backed Micro-Generation Certification Scheme (MCS) accredited installer.
  1. Any maintenance required will be carried out free of charge for 25 years (after 25 years they are yours to keep).
  1. You can save around £150.00 on your annual electricity bills.
  1. The government Feed in Tariff (F.I.T) generated by producing renewable energy will be used to support community-based projects, local charities and social enterprises.
  1. Help to develop a low carbon economy with local skills and jobs for Wales.

What makes this project different from other PV for Free schemes?

Many of the private (‘PV for Free’ or ‘Rent a Roof’) schemes will provide you with points 1,2 and 3 on the above list. However, the money generated from the government F.I.T’s will only be fed back into the private company.

Our focus is on using this money to create an on-going funding stream that supports community-based projects, local charities and social enterprises.

Who is Sustainable Wales backed by?

Sustainable Wales is working with 5 social enterprises across South Wales. All are fully committed to supporting those most affected by rising energy prices and helping to support and rejuvenate communities.

This project has also received backing from the U.K and Welsh governments and was recently formally endorsed by the First Minister, Carwyn Jones.

How can you get involved?

To find out if your roof is eligible for the installation of free solar panels simply fill in the register of interest form (this does not commit you to the project) and return to us or contact us on 01656 783405/  info@sustainablewales.org.uk

We look forward to helping you make the move to a more energy-secure future, whilst making a real difference in your community and the environment as a whole.
