We:
- Promote and encourage sustainable development
- Develop projects that are replicable across Wales
- Help Welsh organisations work towards sustainability via their policies and practices.
This is achieved by:
Provision of consultancy services, information, advice and support; project management, training, facilitation and group development; creation and distribution of resources and publications.
- We bring energy, experience and excitement to the sometimes confusing world of sustainable development.
- We attempt to be proactive and professional in all our projects.
- Welsh Cabinet Ministers have endorsed our work.
Case Example - Czech Exchange 2011/2012:
This programme involved 24 Czech visitors, and aimed to transfer skills in sustainability and community resilience. The week organized by SW was intense and consisted of a wide mixture of presentation, bilingual discussion and visits to practical projects across south and mid Wales.
Amongst the highlights for the Czechs was staying in local B+B’s in Porthcawl and their (organised) visits to local bars and restaurants! The trip also included sharing ideas and experience from practical environmental projects, such as ‘Creation’ in Cwm Garw, ‘Coed Hills’ at St. Hilary, Sustainable Wales and SUSSED.
The visitors learned about time-banking, community-supported agriculture and community allotments, farmers’ markets, recycling and reuse, renewable energy projects and fair trade.
The week was a great success and all of us gained knowledge, ideas and inspiration.
