Dr Frank O’Connor

Frank's passion for responsible design was ignited in 1988 during his undergraduate degree. Working on something he believes in has taken him to Asia, Africa, Europe and Americas, collaborating with individuals and all types & sizes of organisation including the UN, European Commission, national and regional governments (including the Welsh Government), multinationals, SMEs, along with numerous educational institutes, charities & voluntary groups. Frank founded and led the award-winning Ecodesign Centre until 2013. He currently runs anois (which means now in Irish) a collaborative platform for seeking sustainable solutions. Frank also undertakes pro-bono work for organisations and individuals. Frank has a mixed discipline background, which includes a Masters in Advanced Manufacturing, Postgraduate Certificate in Management and a PhD in Ecodesign. He has published extensively, held numerous appointments, and has been delivering talks and workshops overseas since the mid-90s. His interests include sharing, haiku, real food, gardening, writing, grassroots engagement, exploring nature and places and reclaiming materials. Frank has been involved with Sustainable Wales since 2001 including being chairman from 2003 to 2007.
